Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II in Steel and Everose Gold

Unveiled at the Basel fair (Baselworld 2011), the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II in steel and Everose gold is an unmissable new release from the brand.
The ultimate regatta watch, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II is an impressive chronograph, not least for its size (a bold, unapologetic 44 mm diameter). The major new feature of this watch lies in the use of Rolesor Everose: an alloy combining 904L steel and 18-carat Everose gold.
This alloy, developed and produced in Rolex foundries, has the advantage of being highly resistant to corrosion.
The 904L steel case, in addition to being perfectly water-resistant thanks to its Triplock screw-down winding crown, is topped with a bezel featuring a blue Cerachrom disc whose scratch resistance is close to perfect.
Mechanically, this timepiece houses the 4160 movement, fitted with the Parachrom hairspring found in many Oyster watches (the hairspring is a spring that allows the balance wheel to oscillate regularly). The Parachrom hairspring developed by Rolex is 10 times more shock-resistant and unaffected by magnetic fields.

The chronograph’s complication offers a programmable countdown with mechanical memory, controlled via the bezel known as the Ring Command, which rotates through 90 degrees. In the reality of a regatta, it allows the skipper to programme a countdown from one to ten minutes before the start of the race and to position on the starting line as soon as the starting signal is given.
The legibility of the Yacht-Master II has been given particular attention, as the dial photo shows.
