Manufacture Royale: The Ultimate in Watchmaking Excellence

Manufacture Royale is a watchmaking house that creates exceptional timepieces. Manufacture Royale seeks meaning in watchmaking by drawing inspiration from Voltaire. This source of inspiration would lead the watch company to set up its base in Voltaire’s château in Ferney, near Geneva. The ambition of Arnaud Faivre, CEO of SA Manufacture Royale, is to carry on Voltaire’s watchmaking legacy. Indeed, the latter, a shrewd businessman, had launched watch production in Ferney in 1758, relying on the know-how of the Jura’s farmer-watchmakers and low production costs.

Arnaud Faivre worked for a long time for the greatest maisons, producing hand-finished components, before launching his own brand: Manufacture Royale.

Manufacture Royale’s noble emblem is inspired by the anvil in which King Arthur’s sword was set. Only an elite is able to acquire the fruit of the work of Arnaud Faivre, Charles Grosbéty, Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini, the master watchmakers, since only 12 examples of the timepiece named Opéra have been produced.

Precision and durability. The Opéra watch is equipped with a 32 mm calibre that required three years of research and development. This hand-wound movement regulated by a tourbillon is housed in a 50 mm diameter case, rendered in 18-carat white and pink gold. Three sapphire crystals and a transparent caseback allow the mechanics of this jewel to be admired.

The watch comprises 319 components and 29 jewels, with a power reserve of more than 100 hours. The striking mechanism, clear and powerful, was the subject of extensive research, giving rise to a variable-geometry resonance chamber inspired by the Sydney Opera House.
