Longines Ultra-Chron Carbon: High Frequency and Carbon

The watchmaking house Longines continues to impress with the launch of its brand-new Ultra-Chron Carbon, a timepiece that embodies both the heritage of high-frequency watchmaking and innovative materials. This bold creation revisits the iconic 1968 Ultra-Chron while incorporating the latest technological advances.
A carbon case: a first for Longines
The Ultra-Chron Carbon marks an important milestone for Longines, introducing the brand’s first-ever case made from carbon. Valued for its strength and lightness, this material is widely used in cutting-edge fields such as aerospace. The 43 mm case, with its signature cushion shape, is crafted from unidirectional carbon fibres and epoxy resin, pressed at high temperature and cold-cut. This distinctive process gives each watch a unique pattern, making every piece a work of art.

Despite its imposing appearance, the watch is surprisingly light, with a total weight of 80 grams, including the strap. It is water-resistant to 30 bar (300 metres), making it as suitable for water sports as it is for everyday adventures.
An unmatched high-frequency engine
At the heart of the Ultra-Chron Carbon beats Longines’ exclusive L.836.6 calibre, a self-winding mechanical movement oscillating at 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz). This high frequency delivers enhanced accuracy when faced with shocks and changes in position. Equipped with a silicon balance spring, the movement also guarantees exceptional resistance to magnetic fields, up to 10 times higher than the ISO 764 standard.
The watch as a whole is certified as a chronometer by TIMELAB, an independent laboratory based in Geneva, in accordance with the stringent standards of ISO 3159. This certification ensures optimal precision performance, validated through testing under extreme conditions of temperature and position.
A restrained, effective design
The Ultra-Chron Carbon’s sandblasted anthracite dial offers perfect legibility thanks to its applied silver-toned indices and grey PVD hands, all coated with blue-glowing Super-LumiNova. The fixed titanium bezel, featuring an engraved aluminium insert, adds a modern touch to this timeless design.

To complete the look, the watch comes on a black technical-fabric strap, finished with a titanium pin buckle. The set is presented in a special black box, underscoring the unique and prestigious character of this piece.
A rich high-frequency heritage
For more than a century, Longines has been a pioneer in the field of high-frequency timepieces. As early as 1910, the brand filed a patent for chronographs capable of measuring time to 1/10th of a second, then to 1/100th of a second in 1916. In 1968, the introduction of the first Ultra-Chron Diver marked a revolution in dive watchmaking, combining precision and robustness.
With the Ultra-Chron Carbon, Longines carries this legacy forward by combining tradition and innovation. This model embodies the brand’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of precision and delivering watches suited to modern demands.
