Sébastien Loeb came in person this morning, 12 June 2012, to present his new watch, the Marvin Loeb, at Globus in Geneva.

Available in two versions, the new Marvin Loeb—celebrating the driver’s 8th World Rally Championship title—is issued in 88 pieces for the black-and-red model and 100 pieces for the black-and-yellow.

It was a confident yet cautious Sébastien Loeb, when it came to a possible 9th title, who took to the press conference. Relaxed, the driver took part in the journalists’ Q&A and highlighted the sincerity of the partnership with the Marvin brand, based on a genuine desire to develop a watchmaking product that is accessible, reliable and appealing.

This chronograph, designed by the teams at Marvin and Sébastien Loeb, stands out from previous models by adopting, in particular, a 44 mm black PVD case. Dropping the “Day” and “Date” inscriptions on the dial is a good decision compared with the previous version.

The watch, a self-winding mechanical model, houses a Valjoux 7750 movement with a long-proven track record. While he admits he does not wear the watch during stages, Sébastien Loeb is nonetheless keen to wear it in everyday life.

The Marvin Loeb features numerous nods to motorsport, with red “suspension” springs mounted on the lugs, a textured “asphalt” dial, and chronograph counters reminiscent of those in a car.
