The Reverso Watch Celebrates Its 80th Anniversary

Reverso is THE legendary model from Jaeger-LeCoultre. To mark the watch’s 80th anniversary (1931–2011), the watchmaker celebrated the occasion in Paris on 28 June, welcoming 800 guests, including a great many celebrities and ambassadors.
Catherine Deneuve, Clive Owen, Diane Kruger, Adrien Brody, Inès de la Fressange and Julien Doré were among those who made the trip.
It was an opportunity for ambassadors and celebrities to speak about their relationship with this cult watch.
Excerpts.
Antoine De Caunes: As much as I can’t stand people who turn their coats, I love those who flip their watch. Whether it’s to protect the delicate mechanism from a possible blow from a rifle butt, or to forget for a few moments the irreversibility of time passing. Irreversible? Reverso!
Pierre Arditti: With a single gesture, you have both a watch and a piece of jewellery. If you’re a woman, a woman’s jewel; if you’re a man, a man’s jewel—and you can sometimes take it a step further and have two jewels with the same gesture. You’re no longer dealing with an object of reason, but with an object of the heart.
Clive Owen: Watchmaking has long been a passion horlogère of mine. The mechanics and the history of watches fascinate me. It’s hard to imagine that the Reverso is already 80 years old. It was a true innovation for its time and remains an iconic watch.

The celebration was the perfect moment to launch a new service for all Reverso watch owners, who can now access an online personalisation service.
