Marvin Malton 160 Cushion: A Hint of Spring

A breath of spring is blowing through the Marvin brand, as the Malton 160 Cushion watch celebrates the return of lovers’ season by dressing up in intense colours.
And good news never comes alone: this new collection is made up of three watch duos, allowing couples to wear, swap and share their timepieces. The Marvin Malton Duo Colors collection is born.
Each duo pairs an automatic Malton 160 Cushion with a quartz model whose colours are closely linked.
The automatic model houses a Swiss Sellita SW200 movement with 26 jewels, delivering a 38-hour power reserve. The quartz model is fitted with a Swiss Ronda 715 movement.
Darling, can I borrow your watch? To encourage watch-swapping within a couple, the case-size excuse no longer holds water, since the entire collection adopts the same diameter: 42 mm. Marvin has chosen particularly appealing colours for the quartz models—surely with the aim of sparing Mr. from obeying the sacrosanct macho rule that conditions him to wear only the automatic watch and leave the quartz to Mrs.
The very distinctive shape of the Malton 160 Cushion suits both men’s and women’s wrists. The steel case (PVD-coated steel for the automatic model) is water-resistant to 50 metres. Beneath the anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the guilloché dial features three hands and a date display.
The perforated vintage-style strap adds character to a watch that is hardly lacking in it.
Each duo is named after a cocktail: Piña Colada (white/black), Cosmopolitan (fuchsia/black) and Blue Lagoon (turquoise/black).
The watches will be sold in a presentation box but, singletons can rest assured, they will also be available individually.
My visit to Marvin on the occasion of Baselword 2012 (the World Watch and Jewellery Show) is a great opportunity to appreciate the Marvin Loeb, a watch developed with Sébastien Loeb.
