Watchmaker Omega unveils its latest creation, the Speedmaster Pilot, a timepiece that pays tribute to the brand’s rich history in the skies and in space. This contemporary model, rooted in the heritage of the very first Speedmaster from 1957, speaks to aviation and watch enthusiasts alike with an elegant design and innovative technical features.

A design inspired by aviation

With its symmetrical 40.85 mm stainless-steel case, the Speedmaster Pilot stands out thanks to a matte finish that reduces glare for optimal legibility. The matte aluminium bezel preserves the authenticity of the original model through engraved details such as the “Dot Over Ninety” and the “Diagonal to Seventy” on the tachymeter scale—iconic references for collectors.

The grained matte-black dial delivers outstanding readability, enhanced by white Super-LumiNova blocks that illuminate the hands and hour markers in the dark. A bold touch comes via the central chronograph hand, finished with an orange-lacquered aircraft-shaped tip.

Sub-dials inspired by cockpits

The two twin sub-dials, positioned at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock, draw directly from aviation. The first, at 3 o’clock, combines a 60-minute and 12-hour counter, echoing aircraft fuel-burn rate indicators. At 9 o’clock, a target/sight-style small-seconds display incorporates a blue artificial horizon and a matte yellow hand.

An exceptional movement

The Speedmaster Pilot is powered by the METAS-certified Co-Axial Master Chronometer 9900 calibre, delivering some of the industry’s highest standards in precision, magnetic resistance, and long-term durability.

A strap built for adventure

This model comes with two strap options:

  • A stainless-steel bracelet with Omega’s patented comfort-adjustment system.
  • A grey NATO strap, reinforced with KEVLAR® threads, for robustness and a look suited to modern adventurers.

Everything is accompanied by a travel pouch, ideal for life on the move.

Omega’s aviation heritage

From the outset, Omega has played a key role in aviation. During the Second World War, the brand supplied more than 110,000 watches to the British Ministry of Defence to equip RAF pilots. With the launch of the Speedmaster in 1957, it quickly won over American pilots—particularly those who would later become astronauts in NASA’s Mercury programme.

In 1969, the year of Concorde’s first flight, Omega made history by becoming a preferred choice for measuring instruments and the watches worn by the crew of the famous supersonic aircraft.
