A. Lange & Söhne Celebrates 30 Years of the LANGE 1 with Four Limited Editions

To mark the 30th anniversary of the iconic LANGE 1, A. Lange & Söhne unveils four new limited editions, celebrating three decades of innovation and horological precision. These emblematic models—including two new versions in platinum and pink gold—embody the very essence of the artisanal craftsmanship and technical ingenuity that define the Saxon manufacture.
A timeless legacy since 1994
Since its launch on 24 October 1994, the LANGE 1 has become a symbol of precision watchmaking, with its distinctive off-centre dial layout and signature outsize date.
With the LANGE 1, 30 years ago, A. Lange & Söhne presented a masterpiece of precision mechanics and thus set new benchmarks in haute horlogerie. Born from the desire to break away from convention, this watch has since symbolised the very identity of our manufacture, which is committed to creating timepieces of exceptional functionality and aesthetics.
Anthony de Haas, Director of Product Development
For this anniversary edition, two models have been created: a 950 platinum version with a black onyx dial, and a pink-gold version with a blue dial in silver. Each model is limited to 300 pieces, while the PETITE LANGE 1 versions—smaller yet just as refined—are limited to 150 pieces each.

A refined design and exceptional materials
The new versions of the LANGE 1 and the PETITE LANGE 1 stand out for their precious materials and harmonious design. The platinum model, fitted with a black onyx dial, is a first for the collection. This hard stone, rarely used in watchmaking, offers a captivating sheen and an elegant contrast with the platinum case. The pink-gold version, meanwhile, pairs the warmth of gold with the nuances of a blue silver dial, creating a look that is both modern and classic.
With a diameter of 38.5 mm for the LANGE 1 and 36.8 mm for the PETITE LANGE 1, these timepieces retain their emblematic silhouette, with a slim bezel and pronounced lugs that enhance the elegance of the design.
Precision at the heart of calibre L121.1
All four models are powered by the in-house calibre L121.1, first introduced in 2015. This sophisticated movement, with its outsize date that jumps at midnight, showcases the manufacture’s technical mastery. The balance oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, delivering a power reserve of 72 hours thanks to its twin mainspring barrels.

The transparent sapphire-crystal caseback allows you to admire the movement’s artisanal finishing, such as the three-quarter plate decorated with Glashütte ribbing and the gold chatons secured by thermally blued steel screws. These details underscore the tradition and attention to detail that characterise A. Lange & Söhne (if you have trouble pronouncing it, read our article How to pronounce the names of watch brands).

A tribute to 30 years of innovation
With these four limited editions, A. Lange & Söhne celebrates not only the legacy of the LANGE 1, but also the manufacture’s ability to innovate while remaining true to its roots. Available in strictly limited quantities, these new models are an ode to horological perfection and artisanal craftsmanship. True to its spirit of innovation, the brand continues to push the boundaries of haute horlogerie, while paying tribute to its emblematic creations.
