New Animation for H. Moser & Cie’s Streamlined Perpetual Calendar

In 2005, H. Moser & Cie, the outstanding manufacture from the Swiss canton of Schaffhausen, unveiled a highly legible, easy-to-set perpetual calendar (“QP”) that could be adjusted at any time of day, forwards or backwards. This horological feat echoes the innovation of the Endeavour Chinese Calendar, another emblematic creation from the brand that perfectly illustrates its mastery of time.
Ten years later, in 2015, the brand signalled a new chapter with the Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Funky Blue. It embraced its new design codes with a genuine sense of renewal. We still remember the arrival of those magnificent fumé dials.
Today, H. Moser & Cie is launching an evolution of its QP Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Funky Blue (Reference 1800-0205), with a 42 mm case and the brand’s logo applied in transparent lacquer.
To celebrate this release—and to poke fun at the watch’s apparent simplicity despite the mechanical prowess of its movement—a few pieces will be available with a “cheat” dial displaying the watch’s technical specifications.

A pared-back perpetual calendar dial
On the dial, there are no sub-dials, no illegible date disc that requires a microscope to read.
The hour markers indicate the hours, but also the months (via the small central hand).
The date window sits at 3 o’clock and features a “flash calendar” that changes the date at midnight.
At 9 o’clock, a small hand discreetly indicates the power reserve (7 days).

Setting the perpetual calendar
Setting the date and time is done via the screw-down crown, regardless of the time of day—an impressive achievement.
Perpetual calendar owners know this: if you accidentally let a QP run down to the end of its power reserve, you’ll likely end up visiting your watchmaker to have your timepiece set again, for fear of damaging the movement through an incorrect adjustment.

For fun, despite its simplicity, the “bad students” will be able to treat themselves to the “for dummies” version, with a dial featuring amusing annotations.
