3D printers are becoming mainstream and are increasingly being used by small companies, freelancers and private individuals.

The RvnDSGN brand is breaking new ground by launching the first watch made using a 3D printer. The designers turned to one of the most innovative materials used in 3D printing: titanium.

Each rvnDSGN watch is therefore made “by hand”, one by one, in the United States. Contrary to what you might think, each case is unique because the FLS process used (Selective Laser Sintering) produces a different finish on every piece. The base material comes in powder form and is fused layer by layer by the action of a laser, without any liquid.

The only drawback of this process is a porous finish that can sometimes be rather rough; as such, one can imagine the cases are reworked after the sintering operation.

The only regret: the cases house an ETA 980.106 movement, 7 jewels, hours, minutes, seconds… Quartz 🙁

The 20 mm-wide nubuck straps are made in the United States.

Price: $599.99

RvnDSGN is opening up a new path in case design, and it’s a safe bet that this manufacturing technique will see new brands spring up.
