Charriol Colvmbvs Grande Date GMT: Riding the Wave

A fresh breeze is blowing through the Swiss watch brand Charriol as it celebrates its 30th anniversary. First reveal of the brand’s new releases ahead of Baselworld 2013: the Colvmbvs Grande Date GMT.
The third generation of this collection, born in 1988, the Colvmbvs Grande Date GMT features a 46 mm case whose flanks are engraved with triangular motifs reminiscent of the compass rose found on navigation instruments.
The crown, shaped like a sailing shackle, completes the watch’s nautical spirit.
The transparent caseback features a sapphire crystal engraved with the face of Christopher Columbus.
Mechanically, the watch houses an automatic Technotime 651 Big Date movement with a GMT module. The openworked oscillating weight is engraved with the cable motif—the brand’s DNA.
The dial features a sunburst guilloché finish and applied Arabic numerals. The seconds hand bears Charriol’s C logo.
The second time zone is indicated by two hands on a smaller sunburst-brushed subdial at 6 o’clock. The big date is displayed via a double-disc in its window at 12 o’clock.
A black crocodile-leather strap elegantly completes the timepiece.
As a 30th anniversary obliges, the Columbus Grande Date GMT (limited edition of 300 pieces) will be accompanied by two other limited-edition complication models.
Price: around €2,850
