The World Watch and Jewellery Show (Baselworld), taking place in March in Basel, will be an opportunity to discover a wealth of new timepieces.

On this occasion, Omega will unveil the first Omega in-house movement to feature a GMT complication. GMT is the function used to display a second time zone. See the definition of GMT.

The Seamaster Aqua Terra GMT, proudly powered by the Co-Axial calibre 8605/8615, comes in a 43 mm case available in 18-carat red gold, stainless steel, and even a two-tone version. You will be able to admire the movement through the sapphire crystal screwed to the caseback.

The Co-Axial is an Omega invention. It is an escapement reputed to be more efficient than traditional Swiss lever escapements. It maintains the balance wheel’s oscillation, which in turn regulates the watch. The Co-Axial is more stable, generates less friction, and allows the fortunate owner to space out service intervals.

The teak dial, a signature material of the Aqua Terra collection, invites escapism and the memory of a Martini (shaken, not stirred) enjoyed on the deck of a yacht last summer, in charming company.

The hands, faceted in 18-carat white or red gold, enhance legibility. Note the diamond-polished red arrow at the tip of the GMT hand, making it easier to distinguish between time zones.
