HYT Hydro Mechanical Horologists H1: Liquid Time

HYT (Hydro Mechanical Horologists) is a new watch brand founded by Vincent Perriard. A savvy communicator, he has chosen to reveal a few details of the first model: the H1.
The feat of this watch is that it tells the time using two liquids flowing through a glass microtube. The two fluids—one coloured, the other transparent—are linked to the mechanical movement of the timepiece.
Update: you can find the video of the H1 watch, filmed by me at Baselworld, at the end of the article.
Two pistons visible on the dial are actuated to circulate the fluids, under the control of the watch’s manually wound calibre.
The calibre beats at 28,000 vibrations per hour, with a 65-hour power reserve.
Produced in 180 pieces, the HYT H1 will be available at Chronopassion from August 2012.
Price: €32,200 (CHF 39,000)
