A DeLorean Watch!

DeLorean-DNA Romain Jerome

Marty McFly, the hero of Back to the Future, has reason to celebrate. The legendary DeLorean, a car elevated to icon status by Robert Zemeckis’s film, is teaming up with watchmaker RJ-Romain Jerome to create a watch using metal from the original bodywork of the DeLorean DMC-12. Code name: DeLorean-DNA.

The idea of using the emblem of the film trilogy is a smart one. The theme of time is central to the movie thanks to the DeLorean’s flux capacitor, designed by Doc Emmett Brown. The car must reach a speed of 88 mph (miles per hour) to travel through time.

Let’s not forget that watchmaking plays a pivotal role in the first instalment. It is through the energy released by lightning striking the town clock that Marty makes it back to the present day.

The hero, Marty McFly, wears a Casio CA-50, a watch fitted with a calculator—very handy for solving equations with two unknowns.

A watch made from DeLorean metal … a dream more within reach than the flying skateboard from the second film.

For now, the project has only a name, DeLorean-DNA, but the watch will be unveiled soon.
