Does the Devon Tread 1 reinvent the watch?

Devon Works, an American design laboratory, had already made a name for itself in motorsport and fashion with highly specialised luxury products.
Devon has successfully tried its hand at watchmaking by creating a small masterpiece: the Devon Tread 1.
True to its affinity with the world of automotive engineering, the mechanics of the Tread 1 are driven by a system of interlaced belts on which the fortunate owner can read the time. Accuracy is ensured by a brand-patented optical recognition system that continuously checks the position of the belts.
The four motors are powered by a rechargeable battery offering two weeks of autonomy. The belts, mounted on a central chassis, give the impression of floating in mid-air. The movement is beautifully fluid, and for a watch lover it is important to take pleasure in watching the dial of one’s timepiece carry out its inexorable course.
To develop the watch’s mechanical concept, the Devon team looked not to watchmakers, but called on aerospace engineers.
The watch, true to the values of its founder Scott Devon, was designed and manufactured in the United States. A successful bet.
